Lee University Student Achievements
Brandon Wood received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Lee, Master of Music degree from Florida State University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Kentucky. During his time at Lee, Brandon received the Director’s Award, and Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University. He currently is a regular percussionist with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, drummer with Dieter Rice Quartet, founder of North Star Percussion Duo, and is Adjunct Percussion Instructor at Lee University. Brandon is on the educational rosters of Innovative Percussion and Sabian Cymbals.
Stephen Humphries received a Master of Music in Education and a Master of Music in Performance from Lee University and is instructor of percussion and drum set at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. He has been instructor of the Piedmont Music Program in Clinton, SC, as well as giving regular workshops throughout the Cleveland/Chattanooga areas in percussion. He received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University in 2010. Stephen is also a National Champion Hammered Dulcimer player and is featured at festivals across the country, as well as having several solo performances and recordings to his credit.
Kenyn Brown (BM 2012) was named to the staff of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, and assistant caption head of Freedom Indoor Percussion in 2010. He also composes for and instructs several high school percussion sections in the Cleveland area. A member the of the Parker Street Quintet, he received the Outstanding Performer Award at the University of Louisville Jazz week 2007, 2008, and 2009. In 2010, Kenyn was the percussion section leader at Tennessee All-Collegiate Band, and is a senior at Lee University.
Paul Hayes (BM 2012) has performed with Wheaton Symphony Orchestra, Lake Junaluskia Orchestra, Maud Powell Festival Orchestra, Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Municipal Band, Spring Valley Municipal Band, Depue Municipal Band, and Peru/Olgelsby Community Band during his summers off from Lee. He also performs regularly with the Parker Street Quintet, and has been on staff at Illinois Valley Community College. Paul is currently a junior at Lee University.
Katrina Jolley received a Bachelor of Music in Education from Lee and is currently a band director and music teacher for grades 5-12 at Cumberland Gap High School, Fort Ridge High School, H.Y. Livesay Middle School, and Powell Valley Middle School. During her time at Lee, Katrina received the Director’s Award in 2007.
Heather Hall graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Lee and is currently a music educator in Chattanooga, TN. While at Lee, she received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University.
Natalee Long received a Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Lee, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Music program at The Ohio State University. She has held positions at Bradley Middle School and Director of Bands at Bradley Central High School. While at Lee, she received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University.
Adam Marcum received a BM from Lee and received a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University. While at Lee, he received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University. He is currently Director of Bands and Musical Theater at Yulee High Scho ol in Yulee, Florida.
Chris Darling received a Bachelor and Master of Music degree from Lee and is currently Minister of Music at Crossroads Community Church in Summerville, SC. Chris is also a freelance drummer in the Charleston/Summerville areas.
Daniel York received a graduate assistantship in percussion at University of South Carolina where he earned a Master of Music degree. During his time at Lee, he received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University. Dan is currently a freelance percussionist in the Cleveland/Chattanooga areas.
Evan Simmons received a graduate assistantship in percussion at University of South Carolina where he received a Master of Music degree. During his time at Lee, he received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance at Lee University in 2003 and 2004. Evan is currently a freelance percussionist in the Columbia, SC area.
Cara Rogers earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Master's degree in Classroom Teaching from Lee. During her time at Lee, she received the Honors Recital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance. She is currently living in Cleveland, Tn where she teaches elementary music to K-5th graders.
