Dr. Andy Harnsberger

Director of Percussion Studies/Artist in Residence

Andy Harnsberger, Director of Percussion Studies at Lee University since 1997, earned the Doctorate of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where he also received the prestigious Performer's Certificate.  He has performed in a variety of settings across the United States, Europe, and Japan, and has been a featured soloist at numerous festivals across the country.  Andy has appeared on National Public Radio, Percussive Arts Society International Convention, state MENC conventions, in addition to many PAS Days of Percussion and guest artist residencies across the United States. He has performed as percussionist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony and Richmond Ballet Orchestras, Key West Symphony Orchestra, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, Macon Symphony Orchestra, Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, Hilton Head Symphony, Long Bay Symphony, Gainesville Symphony, and Carroll Symphony Orchestra as well as the contemporary music ensemble “Currents”, and has toured extensively as percussionist and xylophone soloist with The Jack Daniel’s Silver Cornet Band.  As a composer, he has several published works that have been performed across the country and around the world.  He is an active scholar as well, having published articles in Percussive Notes and Pearl/Adams and Innovative Percussion online educational resources.

 

Brandon Wood

Instructor of Percussion

Brandon is currently an adjunct Instructor of Percussion at Lee University.  He is a Doctoral Candidate and Teaching Assistant at the University of Kentucky, and holds a Master of Music in performance degree from Florida State University, and Bachelors of Music Education from Lee University. 

Brandon is a member of North Star Percussion, and has performed with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, and Sinfonia Gulf Coast.  He also appears regularly in the Lexington area with the Dieter Rice Quartet jazz combo.  In addition, he was a member of the Kings Brass from 2004 through 2008 - a professional recording ministry ensemble that performs approximately 120 concerts a year.
